In 1846, Companhia de Fiação e Tecidos Lisbonense, a fabric factory, one of the most important in Lisbon was settled in Alcântara. In the following years, this 23 000 m² industrial area hosted important companies as well as printing shops. For many years it remained forgotten, until recently LX Factory was formed and these industrial plots became again part of the city life.
